Fort Worth, Texas: Top Things to Eat

Happy Friday!! I am still in heaven trekking down the Pacific Coast Highway with my hubs. Today we are headed from the Willamette Valley down to Eureka to see the redwoods. But today I have sharing my summer favorites!

There is just something about summer that screams for a good Popsicle.  We have Steel City Pops here in Fort Worth and they are amazing. Some are fruit based and other are cream based, either way you can't go wrong.

Ice Cream!

Because duh, summer.  Fort Worth is lucky to have some amazing local ice cream places that do small batches and utilize local ingredients.

Melt & Gypsy Scoops are my favorite. Melt is in what I like to call the hipster district of Magnolia. They use all Texas ingredients and make the most amazing chocolate ice cream. Gypsy Scoops is just that, a roaming ice cream experience.

Outdoor Concerts!

There is nothing better than camping out on a lawn, stars overheard and music to be heard. BYOB for the perfect summer night.  I know every city and town probably has a summer music event, but in Cowtown, Concerts in the Garden reigns supreme.  Each weekend  the symphony puts on a spectacular show complete with firework finale.

Again with the food. But isn't summer just one big long cookout?  Hot dogs, hamburgs, cole slaw, potato salad and watermelon all hit the spot.  But in Texas, its the BBQ that steals the show.  Nothing quite says summer like brisket, sausage and ribs.  Here, I love local flavor, so Heim, Angelo's or Railhead get my vote. If you end up at Heim, you have to get the burnt ends… trust me

However, if you want some good BBQ and are down south, check out Franklin's  in Austin. Get there early and prepare for a line. or head down to Lockhart where you can choose from Smitty's Market or Kruez Market.

Ok, you just cannot leave Fort Worth without having a good steak. Now, narrowing it down to just one place is just too hard, so instead I give you a couple options.

So, are you ready to grab your boots and ride off into the Fort Worth sunset?
