Friday Favorites: 25 Questions to Know Yourself

I have been on a personal development journey lately. I realized that truly knowing myself, including my strengths and weaknesses, as well as I what I want is the first step in finding purpose.

One of the exercises I went through was answersing some questions to help me get to know myself.

25 Questions to Know Yourself

  1. What does your ideal day look like? Quiet. But seriously, I would love to wake up without an alarm, read my devotional with coffee and then go for a good run by myself. I get my best thinking done when I run. Then I would spend the rest of the day outside enjoy the sunshine. But in peace and quiet.

  2. What did you want to be when you were younger? OBGYN. But I have a fear of needles, so that went out the window. I wanted to bring life into the world.

  3. Who are you most inspired by and why? This one is so hard because I have had so many women that have believed in me and mentored me through the years. But I think I am most inspired by those women who have taken a chance on a whim and prayer and built something they are proud of, i.e. Rachel Hollis. Woman is rocking it.

  4. Who would you love to meet. What would you ask? Easy, RBG Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I would ask her what her biggest regret is. I find that you can tell so much about a person by what they regret in life. Oh, and all about her fitness routine.

  5. What habit would you most like to break? What habit would you most like to start. Break - biting my nails. Start- going to church regularly. I listen online and read my Bible, but I miss the community a church provides.

  6. Think of a person you truly admire. What qualities do you like about that person. This may sound weird, but I admire my male boss. He just knows how to transcend age, gender, class. He could care less that I am woman or younger he just expects the best from us and lets you know that. I admire his bluntness and his true raw passion for what he does. I also love his heart. At the end of the day, even when he criticizes it comes from a place of love and caring.

  7. How do you like to relax. Massage and pedicures.

  8. When was the last time you did something you were afraid of? This morning. Everyday that I put myself out there either through this blog, my fitness business, or Instagram I am afraid. I fear judgment, backlash, opinions. I self-doubt whether my writing is good enough, if I am inspiring people, reaching people, connecting with people. I am afraid that I won't be successful or I will annoy people. So yeah.

  9. What are you most proud of? Defying my circumstances. For those of you who know my history and childhood then you know that no one would have imagined I would be where I am today. I come from a broken home, with a father who was in prison for most of my childhood, we lived on reduced lunches and my mom worked all the time. I came home to more eviction notices than I can count. Going to college was amazing let alone law school.

  10. What are you most afraid of? Snakes. But failure and disappointing those who count on me.

  11. If life stopped today, what would you regret not doing? This one is so hard. I would say opening a business. I know that my fitness is a business, but I mean a store-front business. Do I know what that would be? No. And this is funny because one of my good friends just asked me this same question. I have so many ideas, but not sure of any of them.

  12. Who would you like to connect (or reconnect) with? Why? I would love to reconnect with a woman I got close to when I first started blogging. She is a lawyer, we have the same birthday and initials. She now has two beautiful girls and I just miss our connection.

  13. What qualities do you admire in others? Honestly, loyalty and tenacity.

  14. What practical skills do you wish you had? Art! I wish I could draw. I feel like I would be so much better if I could because man I can see things in my head, but I cannot for the life of me draw them out.

  18. What do you love to do for, or give to others (not an object--something from you personally)? This one is hard and I guess I would have anticipate their needs. I love to be able to see when someone is going to need something and either get it or do it for them.

  24. What piece of advice would you give to five year old you? 16 year old you? 21 year old you? Right now? 5- read! read it all and love it. and listen to your mom. 16 - you are enough. you do not need to change or do anything to impress anyone. just be you. 25 - respect your body and cherish it. Now. go for it. there is no guaranteed tomorrow.
