How to Luv Your Life
If you have been around these parts for long then you are well-aware of my life history and struggles. You have cried with me through my divorce, rejoiced when I announced I was expecting a baby, and celebrated my second wedding. These are all events I never pictured for my life. In fact, as a child growing up in a low-socioeconomic neighborhood with a single mom, a father in prison and those couple of years with the step-dad, I was never supposed to be here.
Yet, somewhere along the wild ride, I knew I was made for more. I deserved better, wanted better, was intent on getting out of where I came from. I worked hard, studied harder, was more involved, worked part-time—hustled and bustled and clawed my way through every obstacle set in my path. And finally, I landed in this moment. The one where I am a gainfully employed attorney, with a loving husband, beautiful daughter, two precious pups, a house we own, and a zest for life. But— with an emptiness because I felt like I was made for more.
While I have an abundant life and more blessings than I can count, I this desire inside me to tap into a part of me that I have suppressed for a very long time. It is the creative genius that I feel lives trapped inside and it just too darn afraid to come out.
So, I finally decided to do something about it. In walks life coaching.
Yup, you heard me, life coaching. I am sure you have all heard about life coaching and thought its a bunch a malarkey and a waste of money. I did too until I realized that the most success entrepreneurs out there have life coaches and business coaches and mentors who are helping them tap into potential, let go of their inner meal girl and love their lives!
I kind of stumbled into this if you may and I have to admit my eyes, heart and mind have been opened to some amazing realizations about myself and what limits me. The most surprising part is that coaching is about so much more than someone simply blowing smoke up your patooty if you will.
I have been challenged to look deeper into myself that I have ever done and explore the true reasons why I am who I am and what is limiting me from truly loving my life.
I admit, it has been scary for me. I have been forced to step outside my comfort zone and admit things about my tendencies and personality that I have kept hidden for a long time. I have had my eyes opened to the inner mean girl living inside me, who despite wanting to protect my heart, is keeping me from reaching my full potential.
Lindsay’s course and Lindsay’s coaching has helped me tap into so much potential. I have examined my values, set a concrete attainable SMART goal, develop a 21-day habit to help me get closer to that goal, and has forced me to truly look at fulfilling my own needs.
I think so many women, especially those of us that are high-achievers forget that success is so much more than a number on a paycheck, a picture-perfect birthday party, or dinner on the table every night. Success is about fulfilling your needs, whatever they are and knowing how to get there. I have been so surprised by this process so far and even though its scary, I am excited for the coming weeks as I work through the Life Luvers Challenge.
I am a wife, mother, lawyer, blogger, fitness enthusiast, dance teacher, but at the end of the day I am a woman who has spent so much of her life defining success by someone else’s terms and never even realized it. if that is all I gain from this challenge I will call it a win, but I know that there is so much more potential to unlock.
So, if you are sitting there wondering exactly what coaching is and perhaps if its for you, check out the free assessment Lindsay offers, no strings attached. As I continue this journey, I promise to be open and honest and share my progress both here and in my stories. You know, the wins, frustrations, a-ha moments and all the struggles in between! Ya’ll know my life is pretty much an open book, so I hope you enjoy the read.
